Wagner is an infrequent guest at the Rome Opera, which is why the Tristan Isolde one who inaugurates the 2016-2017 season has the feel of a precious occasion, of those who wear the musical prestigious Teatro dell’Opera in Rome worth a modern European theater.
The first performance was in Monaco in 1865. Three acts with libretto of the same Wagner that are a mainstay in music history. All the drama Tristan and Isolde focuses on love and death. From the first act, the two young people are attracted to each other, aware that the fate of their passion will lead them to destruction. The staging of Pierre Audi is essential and elegant. All elements of the scene are moving towards an almost abstract space, where eros, fulcrum of the whole work, it never turns into passion between the two leads, screened in another dimension, which fits perfectly with the musical language .
